Our goodbyes

Having completed our 3rd sem, we bid farewell to KDU Penang and all that it has done to us. Some may actually consider going back to complete their degree, but for most of us, it is goodbye. Not many of us in the July 07 intake were actually considering to go back to KDU ( we know better now :P ).

So our final and farewell party was held somewhere deep in Penang. Led by Jack Ng, we were taken to a place about 30km from Georgetown. Beautiful view and a lovely location, heads up to Jack for finding such a perfect location for it all.

So we ate and ate. Poor Tony had so little to eat because most of the dishes were seafood and the poor child was allergic to seafood. Luckily, Jack realised this and went on to order " Belacan Chicken" for him. Yummy.

After dinner was a round of photographs. Posing and more posing. Lol after all it was our last pics and we'd like to make it memorable I must say. Memorable indeed :P Besides, the view was lovely.

Well guys it has been a wonderful journey! And I wish you all the best in life! Have fun and work hard during training! Looking forward to meeting up with you guys during graduation. Till then, au revoir! J'adore mes amis a H&T July intake 07! Bonne chance! Tchao :)

Memories. Memories. Memories

Being a H&T student in KDU, there are definitely certain expectations that you have to live up to. Even in our very hot weather, we are forced to wear our full uniform around college. That's terrible! And apparently H&T students have to project some level of professionalism. Which is why I guess my lecturers are not too fond of me. What can I say, I guess I'm different? Not everybody wants to be a nerdy H&T right? And look, they even made me dye my hair black. Isn't that just wonderful? NOT!

To all my lecturers, just because I'm noisy and I hang out with the mass commers alot, that doesn't mean I'm not professional ok? And, please stop being racist. I don't see why I'm the only one who has to change my hairstyle when everyone else has even worst hairstyles. Fine fine, I'll pin up my fringe if thats what you want. But bear in mind, you're lucky I didn't take this matter up to the Head.

And to all my mass comm buddies, I'll always be a mass commer at heart :)

OK. My classmates lets say, aren't very friendly with outsiders, meaning people from other courses. They sit in groups and interact among themselves, mainly conversing in Mandarin or Hokkien, which annoys the hell outta me! I mean, I'm lucky that I understand just a wee bit of it, but imagine the international students in the class. I'm sure they know nuts about it. And the lecturers just love teaching in Mandarin or Hokkien. My my. This is definitely the one part I regret about studying in KDU Penang. Would have been well off in KDU PJ seriously. I'm sure the lecturers there speak in English all the time. Ok enough about that. Anyways, in between break times are always an opportunity to catch up with my friends and just be silly. But not for my classmates. Most of them spend their time in the library or just sitting in the canteen watching Mandarin dramas. Now thats one thing I'd never do.

Having said all that, they can also be the whackiest bunch of people! And thats why I love em!
Through the assignment frenzies and presentation craze, we got through it all! Everyone was super competitive and 100% commited to their work making it alil tougher for me as well but otherwise challenges me to do even better!

Goofing off during field trips and just dancing like crazy during presentations! Missing you guys like crazy! Hoping to see you guys during graduation :)

Food Service that Kills!

Next up, Food Service. Lots of painful memories here. Working for hours and hours in those bloody heels that can actually kill! Note to self, F&B is alot of work. Fussy customers don't do you justice either. It's like a compulsory act to complain about every single detail, from the table to the food. Makes me learn my lesson. Cut the waiters some slack. They've had a rough day. All those mise-en-place before the restaurant is opened. My god.

Here on the left we have our little briefing before we open the restaurant as well as our lecturer, Mr. Prakash offering some advice to help make our operations smooth.

On the right, you'd see us in our uniform. And of course me, looking sleepy as ever. Was never really a morning person. Imagine working the entire day without a meal :(
Well for all that starving, I managed an A for Food Service as well. Although our manager for the day did not do a very good job handling the table reservations and menu, I guess we still performed our very best and deserved that A.

We now begin with my journey with my classmates, enduring H&T.

What can I say. There had both been painful and wonderful memories to be cherished. Not to mention the dramas within the classroom. We could almost start our own tv series really.

First off, Kitchen Production class. Where good food was being produced including all the cursing and swearing at each other. Luckily, I managed to get into a group of co-operative, responsible people who aren't dying to kill one another. Think about it. Kitchen. Sharp knives. Equipments that kill. Grrr.
For my final exam, we actually had to run an entire kitchen on our own without the help from our chef lecturers. I was put in charge of the appetizers or entree. French Onion Soup. Gawd the agony of slicing up few kgs of onions! I could have sworn I still smelt of onions the next couple of days! But anyways, my hardwork paid off because I managed to get good reviews from the customers! They actually liked my soup! Phew! On top of that, our group managed to get Best Kitchen Production Group in my class! What a reward! We all got an A for Kitchen Production! :D

And here are the wonderful people in my group!

Missing you guys terribly! Loads of love :) Kitchen Production July 07 intake Group A rawks!!

Beginning of a New chapter in my life

Hello all and welcome to the stories and tales of my life. Life in the shoes of Kimmy Monteiro.

What a more perfect timing to start a blog I must say. When I had left the place I once called home along with my friends, classmates and loved ones. It absolutely breaks my heart knowing that it's possible that I might not see them again. Not anytime soon that is. I pray hard that does not happen really. I can't imagine leaving all of them behind. You know who you are guys :) You've created such an impact in my life, being there for me when I needed you guys most, through my assignment frenzies and classroom dramas. I could never thank you guys enough.

This blog I must add, is specially dedicated to you guys, my loved ones in Penang. In the next couple of blogs, it would then be a reminiscence of the past memories spent. Stories. stories. stories. Loads to tell and so little time.

I'd also be updating whenever I can on my dream job at Hilton KL, the place I've dreamt of all my life and now, I'm finally there :)

Here's to the start of my new life and to my friends, I'll be thinking about you guys constantly.

"As we go on, we remember all the times we had together,
And as our lives change, come whatever, we will still be FRIENDS FOREVER."

loves. loves. loves.
XOXO
